Fast growing, Chicago based consulting company is looking for highly motivated and adept applicants with a minimum of three years of commercial web design experience. We are seeking experienced internet designers to work with a team of developers creating rich internet applications (RIA) and web 2.0 solutions. This position is specifically working with Microsoft Expression Suite and Silverlight technology. We are a fast paced technology company looking to build our Expression and Silverlight creative capabilities.

The ideal candidate must be able to provide clients with a variety of clean, functional, and practical UI concepts (from individual content areas to complete sites) for a given design problem, and be able to detail pros/cons for each design concept. The candidate must approach designs as an information architect, providing intuitive and well organized designs. The ideal candidate will be familiar with working with clients that require designs within constraints of often unwieldy requirements, such as sprawling forms, massive amounts of data, cramped screen real estate, etc.

The candidate needs to have a clear understanding of technical requirements/limitations when developing designs and must be able to work with a team of people including requirements analysts, technical designers, and application developers from conception to completion.

The candidate must have well-refined time management skills and be comfortable working on multiple on-going projects.

We have a solid team of experienced software developers responsible for functionality, service creation, and database design. The position requires understanding Microsoft Windows based design tools. All content and design creation is performed on the Windows platform. A familiarity with Mac browser/platform is required for cross-platform design creation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop web application interfaces requiring high degrees of interactivity
• Create innovative web site designs for functional web sites
• Work with our clients and other team members to design and develop solutions based on the Microsoft .NET technology
• Communicate (verbal and written) effectively with a variety of cross-functional groups

Required Skills:

Experience with Photoshop, including:

• Image manipulation (resizing, compositing, web preparation)
• Banner/logo/button creation
• UI concept/mock-up generation

Professional level HTML/CSS experience, including:

• Preference of hand-coding over WYSIWYG
• Browser/platform/standards compliance
• Implement Photoshop concept/wireframe
• Table-less layouts

Thorough experience with JavaScript, including:

• Form validation
• DOM manipulation (rollovers, visibility toggling, element selection/creation/deletion, etc)
• OO/modular/namespaced development

Microsoft Technologies:

• Silverlight
• Expression Suite

Moderate Flash experience, including:

• Splash page/banner creation

Experience with any of the following technologies is also desired:

• AJAX
• Illustrator
• Fireworks
• Acrobat
• JSON
• Converting and compressing sound files for Flash/web use
• Prominent JavaScript frameworks (jQuery, mootools, YUI, prototype)

Notes:

• Periodic travel within the Chicagoland area is required for the position.
